Literary magazines are run by people devoted to writers and writing but who often operate in isolation, unsure of how to streamline their processes, broaden their audiences, and expand their programming. I collaborate with editors, publishers, and administrators on strategic planning for online journals, print magazines, and literary arts organizations.
Areas I assist with:
-Conceptualizing and launching new journals -Crafting missions -Budgeting -Fundraising -Increasing and diversifying submissions -Creating editorial production schedules -Structuring and recruiting staff -Branding -Marketing -Event planning -Board development
I am the founder and editor of Foundry, a co-founder and former managing editor/publisher of Guernica, and the former assistant editor of inter|rupture. I have consulted with Fence, The Westchester Review, The Seventh Wave, The Southampton Review, Nat. Brut, andthe Sarah Lawrence College Poetry Festival.
In addition to my editorial work, I have spent a decade as a fundraiser, focusing on individual and major giving for The Metropolitan Opera, colleges and universities, and an arts center.
